Trump Is Right: Democrats Are Trashing Democracy
Share
Over the Labor Day holiday, former President Donald Trump did not rest. In fact, he made exactly the point that is doubtless blatantly obvious to millions of Americans.
Here’s the former president in his own words:
The Fake Indictments and lawsuits against me, 8 of them all come out of the Biden Campaign for purposes of Election Interference. This is their new way of Rigging the Election, and it won’t hold up.
In another Truth Social post, he added this:
They have started a whole new Banana Republic way of thinking about political campaigns. So cheap and dirty, but that’s where America is right now. Be careful what you wish for!
Bingo. The former president has put his finger on exactly what his opponents are up to — again.
When most Americans think of voter fraud they tend to think of the old-fashioned kind — dead people voting, for example. Yet in the 21st century, there are all manner of ways to interfere in an election.
As the Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway has detailed in her bestseller Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections, election-rigging today can consist of a number of methods. That would include everything from the press brazenly concealing “unfavorable news” to a favored candidate — as was done when the left-leaning media and Big Tech combining to suppress the New York Post’s devastating stories revealing the contents of Hunter Biden’s “laptop from hell” (as described by the Post’s ace reporter Miranda Devine) — or, as Mollie also correctly notes, the advent of COVID resulting in Democrats manipulating “a public health crisis to change the voting process in ways that left it laughably insecure.”
Only yesterday my American Spectator colleague David Catron headlined this:
Arming the 14th Amendment Against Trump Voters
Two never-Trump law professors offer help to left-wing groups seeking to scratch Trump from the ballot.
You read that right. The move is now afoot to deny Donald Trump his ability to literally have his name on the ballot, making it impossible for Americans to vote for him.
Taken together — or even separately — the combination of repeated indictments, suppressing news unfavorable to Joe Biden or any other leftist candidate, manipulating the voting rules in the name of COVID, and now boldly trying to literally keep Trump’s name off the ballot is nothing less than out-and-out fascism. A blunt attempt to fix an election — to rig it to produce the Left’s desired result, in this case the reelection of Joe Biden.
This is but part and parcel of the Left’s multiple attempts to end democracy in favor of a fascist state. Whether it’s rigging a presidential election, packing the Supreme Court, adding the District of Columbia as a state with two inevitably Democrat senators — all of this and more is aimed at exactly what Donald Trump says it is designed to create: a banana republic. A one-party fascist government that dispenses with democracy.
And you can be sure that on the to-do list for these people is targeting and shutting down a free press. A free press that is, among other places, existing vibrantly right here at The American Spectator.
In fact, as pointed out in this space in 2019, the Daily Caller had come out with the news that Big Tech, in that case Google, had already set about targeting The American Spectator. Targeting by blacklisting. The DC story reported:
On the blacklist are a number of conservative sites, including Gateway Pundit, Matt Walsh’s blog, Gary North’s blog “teapartyeconomist.com,” Caroline Glick’s website, Conservative Tribune, a property of The Western Journal and the website of the American Spectator.
Put another way, just as Trump says, today they’re after him. But, in fact, he’s simply in the way. The real target out there across America is you — the millions of Americans who believe in democracy, freedom, a free press, free markets, and, yes, free elections, where rigging is not allowed.
As noted recently in this space, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said this the other week to talk radio and Fox’s Mark Levin:
I think that Trump is not a candidate — Trump is the leader of a movement…. He’s the personification of an [opponent to] an establishment that is totally corrupt, destroying anything that gets in its way.
Exactly.
That is just why I can drive around Central Pennsylvania, where I live, and see Trump’s name painted on the sides of trailer trucks and barns — and not signs for a single other candidate of either party.
The ultimate irony here being that the more this corrupt political establishment weaponizes the law to silence Trump — the higher go his polls.
But make no mistake.
When prosecutors with names like the Biden Justice Department’s Jack Smith or Fulton County’s Fani Willis or Manhattan’s Alvin Bragg pursue their indictments of the former president, what they really are about is rigging the 2024 election.
They are all about election interference.
It is corrupt. And so are they.
