The media once again fail to hold Joe Biden accountable for misinformation

Share

As each day passes in the Joe Biden presidency, it is becoming abundantly clear that all the warnings Biden gave about misinformation’s dangers were performative politics.

After spending years criticizing former President Donald Trump for not being truthful, Biden and Democrats have tussled with their truth-telling abilities on a daily basis.

The president’s latest fib, assuming he hasn’t said anything else untruthful by the time this article gets published, was when, during his recent trip to Israel, he falsely claimed he met former Prime Minister Golda Meir before the Six-Day War. And, of course, the legacy media ignored it.

“I remember the first time I was in Israel with Golda Meir. It was right before the Six-Day War,” Biden said.

But Biden was not telling the truth. The Six-Day War occurred in 1967; Biden met Meir in 1973, shortly before the Yom Kippur War. Defenders of Biden have tried to claim it was just a harmless mix-up by the president. However, Biden was caught telling this same falsehood in 2021. Newsweek exposed him at the time for not telling the truth, an incident highlighted this week by Townhall’s Sarah Arnold.

“‘During the Six Day War…she invited me to come over because I was going to be the liaison between she and the Egyptians about the Suez,’ he failed to specify what ‘liaison’ role he was to hold,” the article in Newsweek reads. “He claimed that he sat ‘in front of her desk’ as Meir flipped through a ‘bevy of maps,’ adding, ‘It was so depressing…about what happened. She gave me every detail.’”

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) posted about Biden’s deceit on X, formerly Twitter (also pointed out by Townhall).

“Joe Biden just said he was in Israel as a U.S. Senator right before the Six Day War. Another PROVABLE lie by our president,” Donalds posted. “Joe, you became a Senator in 1973, and the Six Day War was in 1967. Why lie?”

Biden’s Six-Day War misinformation comes after he lied about saying he was at Ground Zero in New York City the day after 9/11. It also comes after he falsely claimed his son Beau Biden was killed in Iraq (Beau Biden died of brain cancer in 2015 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center). It comes after Biden lied about being born in the same hospital as his grandfather the same year his grandfather passed away (Biden was born more than a year later at a different hospital in another state).

Being deceitful and untruthful to the public is Biden’s bread and butter. He does it all the time but is never held accountable.

The political party and group of people that were so outraged at Trump’s supposed lies disregarded Biden’s regular spread of misinformation. Something that was considered by Democrats one of the main “threats to our democracy” is regularly ignored when Democratic Joe Biden says such things. Democrats have demonstrated they embrace spreading misinformation so long as they are the ones doing it.
